About the role:
At The Lost Dogs' Home Cranbourne, you'll find the right balance of support and challenges, allowing you to develop your shelter-specific skills. While our Cranbourne site doesn't offer general veterinary services to the public, you will still engage in post-adoption consultations and work with foster carers. Additionally, you'll have the unique opportunity to handle cases not commonly seen in private practice and contribute to our mission of giving every animal the best chance at a happy and healthy life.
You will be undertaking sole charge responsibilities once a month for a half day on Saturday, all other days of the week you will have the support of another one or two Veterinarians.
On a day-to-day basis you will be:
• Providing diagnostics, treatment and care to lost and abandoned animals at the Cranbourne shelter
• Medical and surgical examinations in a shelter setting
• Conducting incoming animal checks if indicated
• Undertaking clinical examinations of animals in our care
• Undertaking routine surgical procedures.
About you:
You are an experienced and dedicated Veterinarian, passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of shelter animals in a dynamic and evolving environment. With 3+ years of professional experience, you bring a deep understanding of veterinary practices, a commitment to animal welfare, and the ability to adapt to the unique challenges of shelter care
Additionally, you will have:
- 3+ years of previous experience as a veterinarian (preferred)
- Well-developed clinical and soft tissue surgical skills
- Emotional maturity and a deep commitment to animal welfare ethics
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on collaboration and teamwork.
- Ability to follow protocols and contribute effectively within a team environment.
- Adaptability to work within a rotating roster, ensuring consistent care and support for shelter animals. This includes occasional shifts at our Cranbourne shelter, offering an opportunity to work with a dedicated team and gain diverse experiences.
